I am based in a laboratory at our Trust and investigate a wide range of clinical conditions from blood disorders and cancer to hepatitis and meningitis, providing results critical to patient care.
After working in several different NHS trusts I am really happy working here because of the support I get. I feel I belong here and my work is always valued.
What I enjoy about my job is that it is extremely varied and demands both analytical and practical skills. In one shift I will be working with clinicians to diagnose patients blood results and can also then be reviewing and contributing to the development of standard operating procedures and quality assurance systems.
I think it is important for people to know that working with technology is a big part of the job and you must be able to enjoy working own your own to problem solve.
