Harry Galsote

"I arrived in UK in 2020 and haven't looked back"

I am a Band 7 ward manager. My role is to monitor the ward and staff performance, and to ensure patient care is of a high standard.

I arrived in the United Kingdom from the Philippines in January 2020, having four years of experience working on a surgical ward.

By nature, I have always been a very caring and compassionate individual and I always strive to do anything within my remit to help others. This is how I knew nursing would be the right career for me.

I have been fortunate to have had such great leaders whilst here at our Trust I was promoted to a Band 6 nurse within 16 months. I am now a ward manager so the career opportunities have been there for me.

I hope to inspire my international educated colleagues to be the best they can be.

Guidance for International Medical Graduates

We look forward to welcoming International Medical Graduates (IMG), to our Trust.

Prior to commencing work within the NHS, all International Medical Graduates must ensure that they have considered their immigration status and whether or not they are allowed to live and work within the UK as well as undergo a background check. Information describing these processes can be found below.

VISA application and Immigration

Immigration rules are complex and it is important to get the most up to date information. The best place is the UK Government Website. https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration You may need to pay a surcharge (called the ‘immigration health surcharge’ or IHS) as part of your immigration application.

National Insurance Number

You must apply for a national insurance number (NI) to work in the UK. There are some instances when people can start work before their NI number arrives. See the UK government website for more details. https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number

DBS Checks/Overseas Criminality Information

From April 2017, Tier 2 visa applicants and their adult dependant(s) will be required to provide a criminal record certificate from each country they have lived in consecutively for 12 months or more in the past ten years.

Other useful resources about life in the UK

The UK government website https://www.gov.uk/ is an easy to use site which has information on all government services.
